Veterans receive $4800 in grants: Peter Slipper MP
Member for Fisher Peter Slipper has announced grants totalling $4867 for the recognition of ex-servicemen and women in the Electorate of Fisher.
Mr Slipper said the grants aimed to honour the sacrifice of Australia’s servicemen and women in wars, conflicts and peace operations.
“The grants go toward projects that aim to recognise the efforts of the men and women of our defence forces and help promote an appreciation and understanding of their roles in helping to shape this nation,” Mr Slipper said.
The funds are allocated to:
*Kawana Waters RSL Sub-branch – $3000 for the installation of a secure cabinet in the Kawana sub branch office;
*Seasons Living aged care (Caloundra) – $1867 to erect a memorial at the Season Caloundra aged care facility to commemorate all servicemen and women.
The funds come from the Saluting their Service programme, which aims to preserve Australia’s wartime heritage and also encourage involvement by people across the nation in commemorative activities and projects.
