Graffiti No Deterrent

Early today my electorate office windows were sprayed with graffiti.  The attack follows the release by me late yesterday of an open letter to the Fisher Electorate.

Police have been informed and are investigating.

While I am disappointed with the graffiti attack, it in no way diminishes my resolve to be the best Independent Speaker I can be.

I will not speculate on who committed this crime; I am focused on directing my energy toward improving things that matter on the Sunshine Coast and in Parliament.

I reiterate that I am strongly committed to working with those on all sides of politics to improve how Parliament operates.

My door remains always open to ALL constituents to discuss matters of concern to them.

I have respect for the views of all, including those who disagree with me, and I appreciate hearing and debating new ideas.

Congratulations USC!

Congratulations to the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) on its receipt of $24 million from the Structural Adjustment Fund.  The funding will go a long way to enhancing tertiary and vocational education services in the area. This is a highly significant outcome for USC, its partners, staff and students.

The funds will support the Collaborative Futures Project (CFP) at the University, which includes construction of new facilities that will be shared with TAFE, will boost learning capabilities and capacity, and will encourage projects with TAFE, local schools and community groups.

Well done to all involved!
