Peter Slipper MP – Federal Member for Fisher
It is an honour to represent the people of Fisher in the Australian Parliament.
It is a demanding role, but I am committed to providing a strong voice for all local residents. Hard work and dedication coupled with persistence has led to significant achievements for countless individuals in Fisher, for the community, the state of Queensland and the nation as a whole.
I am a long term resident of the area, having established and operated small businesses on the Sunshine Coast and elsewhere before entering Parliament. I am proud of my personal involvement in the community and my interest in the needs and aspirations of local families.
As father of Nick and Alex, I understand the importance of ensuring good educational and work prospects for all residents. I am fortunate to enjoy the strong support of my wife Inge and my family.
As an Independent, I am committed to speaking in support of policies and initiatives that will strengthen Australia’s position as a secure and successful nation. I also have no hesitation in raising strong objection to proposals that are ineffective and damaging.
The residents of Fisher face many varied challenges – from those in the high growth communities around the central and southern Sunshine Coast, to the hardships faced by farming communities in our country areas.
I recognise that while individual needs may differ, the necessity for continued active and committed support on all issues remains constant.
I am a determined campaigner for the people of Fisher. I work hard for local residents, and I am committed to continued hard work to maintain the many good things we have, while striving to make things even better in the future.
